Rockland County Legislator and Assemblyman-elect Aron Wieder paid a special visit to Viener Cheder on Wednesday afternoon, engaging with sixth-grade students in a lively discussion about the workings of the county legislature, politics, and the election process.
The students listened attentively as Wieder broke down the intricacies of local governance and shared insights into his role as a legislator. The visit was both educational and inspiring, as the young audience eagerly absorbed the practical lessons on civic responsibility and the democratic process.
To mark the occasion, the students presented Wieder with a commemorative plaque, congratulating him on his recent election victory. Wieder, who will assume office as a New York State Assemblyman in Albany this January, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome and the thoughtful gesture from the students.
Speaking to Monsey Scoop, Weider shared his admiration for the class. “It was very refreshing to see the students in the class. They were well-versed in American history and politics, and I was truly impressed. It was clear that this school provides a high-quality education. The parents made a great choice in placing their children here, and this is how it should be—decisions about education should be made by the families the schools serve, not by bureaucrats in the State Education Department.”
This visit highlights the importance of fostering political awareness and civic engagement among the next generation, a value Wieder championed during his time with the students.
