Assemblyman Aron Wieder has secured a $10,000 grant for the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit, a move aimed at bolstering public safety across the county.
The funding will support ongoing training for the unit’s canines and their handlers, ensuring they remain at peak performance in critical operations.
Assemblyman Wieder, a longtime Rockland resident representing the 97th District, emphasized the importance of reliable law enforcement in the community.
“I am proud to reside in a county where we have a sheriff we can rely on for the safety of its residents,” Wieder said. “This grant will enhance the capabilities of our K9 Unit, ultimately contributing to the safety of all Rockland County residents.”
Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco III expressed gratitude for the support, highlighting the vital role the K9 Unit plays in daily operations.
“Thank you to Assemblyman Wieder for securing this important grant,” Sheriff Falco said. “My job is to keep Rocklanders safe, and the K9 Unit is a very important part of that mission. These highly trained dogs assist in bomb detection, tracking suspects, and serving as bloodhounds for locating missing persons. This funding will help keep our K9 teams and their officers sharp through essential training.”
The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit includes specialized teams for explosives detection, narcotics, tracking, and more, providing round-the-clock support to protect the community.
This grant underscores ongoing efforts to equip local law enforcement with the resources needed to maintain high standards of public safety in Rockland County.
