Assemblyman Aron Wieder Meets with Local Law Enforcement and Highway Officials in Albany

New York State Assemblyman Aron Wieder (D-97th District) recently hosted productive meetings in his Albany office to address key priorities for Rockland and Orange Counties.

Assemblyman Wieder first convened with Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco III, Orange County Sheriff Paul Arteta, and members of their teams. The discussion centered on public safety needs, including resource support, operational challenges, and potential state-level assistance. “Direct input from our sheriffs is invaluable,” Assemblyman Wieder stated. “These conversations help shape effective advocacy for funding and policies that enhance community safety.”

He followed with a meeting featuring highway superintendents from Orange and Rockland Counties, including Orangetown Highway Superintendent James J. Dean, whose jurisdiction lies within the 97th District. Topics included road and bridge maintenance, infrastructure funding, and emergency preparedness amid increasing demands.

During the session, Superintendent Dean thanked Assemblyman Wieder for securing a $100,000 state grant to the Town of Orangetown for the installation of a new traffic signal at the intersection of Hunt Road and Orangeburg Road. The funding will improve safety and wellbeing for Orangetown residents by enhancing traffic control at this key location.

“These sessions reaffirm my commitment to connecting local needs with state resources,” Assemblyman Wieder added. “I will pursue targeted solutions in the legislative session to support our communities.”

His office will continue advancing these priorities and welcomes constituent feedback.
