Assemblyman Aron Wieder Highlights Week of Service, Partnerships, and Constituent Outreach Across Rockland

Assemblyman Aron Wieder (D-97th District) maintained a packed schedule of community recognition, intergovernmental collaboration, and constituent engagement this past week — underscoring his commitment to responsive and accessible representation for Rockland County residents.

The week began Sunday, October 26, when Assemblymember Wieder addressed the Jewish War Veterans’ 79th Annual Breakfast at the New City Jewish Center, expressing gratitude to those who served and reaffirming his dedication to supporting veterans and their families. That same day, he attended the Hillcrest Fire Company’s Annual Fire Prevention Open House, presenting a New York State Assembly citation to the all-volunteer department in recognition of its outstanding public-safety record.

On National First Responders Day (October 28), staff from Wieder’s office visited every law-enforcement agency in the 97th District to deliver personalized Assembly citations, thanking officers for their continued protection and service to the community.

Wednesday featured a series of back-to-back meetings focused on job creation, safety, and interagency coordination.
At Rockland Works headquarters in Nyack, Wieder met with Executive Director Shannon Hargrove and Deputy Director Richard Gore to align workforce-training and job-placement programs with the district’s evolving needs. Later that day, on the Orangeburg campus of Dominican University New York, he joined University President Joe Mirto and Rockland County Director of Public Policy Steve Powers for a discussion on enhancing pedestrian safety at the hazardous Western Highway crosswalk by the campus entrance.

Also on Wednesday, Wieder’s Chief of Staff, Shlomo Kertzner, presented Orange & Rockland Utilities Corporate Affairs Manager Matthew Mariconi with an Assembly citation recognizing his recent YMCA Community Service Award and his continued partnership in assisting Rockland families with utility-related challenges.

Constituent access took center stage with two mobile district offices held within four days.
On Thursday, October 30, at the Community Outreach Center in Monsey, Assemblymember Wieder personally met with over 30 residents seeking help with DMV issues, housing applications, and state-agency matters. On Sunday, November 2, at the Finkelstein Memorial Library in Spring Valley, Chief of Staff Kertzner and district aides assisted another 30-plus constituents with benefit programs, senior services, and related inquiries.

“Every mobile office is a promise kept — government that comes to you,” said Assemblymember Wieder. “Whether it’s a veterans’ breakfast or a library table, we’re here to listen and deliver.”
