New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie joined Assemblyman Aron Wieder on Wednesday August 6, 2025 for a tour of the 97th District in Rockland County, showcasing community hubs and meeting local leaders. The visit, part of Heastie’s statewide tour, also included an announcement of significant funding for capital improvement projects in the district, with details to be shared as they become available, Wieder noted.
At the Community Outreach Center, Heastie and Wieder met Executive Director Rabbi Hersh Horowitz to explore the facility, a key resource aiding families with social service applications and employment support while offering seniors recreational and life support services. “This center is a cornerstone of the community,” Heastie said.
The pair then visited the Martin Luther King Center, led by Director Nathan Mungin, which provides after-school and summer programs for children, youth employment opportunities, a food pantry, and senior nutritional support. “These organizations strengthen our communities,” Heastie added.
In Kaser, Heastie and Wieder met the Grand Rabbi of Viznitz with Mayor Allie Pinkasovits, and in New Square, they visited the Grand Rabbi of Skver with Mayor Izzy Spitzer to discuss local priorities. During these meetings, the Grand Rabbis thanked Speaker Heastie for his dedication to New York State residents and shared blessings for his continued leadership in guiding the Assembly to benefit all New Yorkers.
Heastie thanked Wieder for the tour, emphasizing the community’s dedication. “It’s an honor to see the impactful work happening here,” he said. The visit highlights a continued focus on supporting the 97th District’s growth and vitality.
