It was a busy afternoon on Tuesday for the Ramapo Police Department, with officers handling several incidents across town, including the arrest of an allegedly intoxicated driver and a reported altercation at a local gas station.
Police responded to reports of a green Toyota Camry driving erratically northbound on Route 17 in the Sloatsburg area—swerving between lanes and striking curbs. The driver was quickly located, pulled over, and arrested for driving while intoxicated. He was transported to the station for processing.
“Another one arrested… and sadly, another reminder,” the department wrote on social media. “While we’re glad to have taken another impaired driver off the road, it’s frustrating—and frankly disheartening—that no matter how many arrests are made, there’s always someone else out there willing to risk lives by getting behind the wheel drunk. To our law-abiding residents and motorists: we see you, we appreciate you, and we’re doing everything we can to keep you safe.”
Later in the day, two Ramapo officers also responded to the Airmont Gulf gas station following a report of a fight in progress. Police worked to de-escalate the situation and ensure everyone’s safety.
“As always, we’re out there around the clock—responding, protecting, and keeping the peace,” the department added.
