The Office of Town Of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht has issued an important message regarding upcoming roadwork on the Palisades Interstate Parkway (PIP). The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) is set to commence catch basin repair work on the southbound (SB) PIP Exit Ramps 11 and 14 next week, necessitating temporary closures and traffic detours. Here are the details you need to know:
SB PIP Exit 11 Closure – Monday, October 2, 2023 (Rain Date: Tuesday, October 3, 2023)
On Monday, October 2, 2023, SB Exit 11 of the Palisades Interstate Parkway will be temporarily closed to all traffic. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 3, 2023. During this closure, motorists are advised to follow the detour route, which involves exiting at Exit 10, rejoining the northbound (NB) PIP, and then taking the NB Exit 11.
SB PIP Exit 14 Closure – Wednesday, October 4, 2023 (Rain Date: Thursday, October 5, 2023)
A similar closure will take place on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, for SB Exit 14 of the PIP. In case of rain, the alternate date is Thursday, October 5, 2023. When Exit 14 is closed, drivers are instructed to exit at Exit 13, return to the NB PIP, and then take the NB Exit 14 to their desired destination.
It’s important to note that only the southbound exit ramps for Exits 11 and 14 will be inaccessible during the repair work. The NB PIP entrance ramps at these exits will remain open and operational throughout this maintenance operation.
To ensure that motorists are well-informed, detour signage will be prominently displayed, and electronic message boards will be activated to provide the latest information regarding the date and time of closures, as well as detour instructions for the exit ramps.
Supervisor Michael Specht’s office encourages all residents and commuters to plan their routes accordingly and to exercise caution when navigating the detour routes. These repairs are essential for maintaining the safety and integrity of the Palisades Interstate Parkway. Your cooperation and patience are greatly appreciated during this period of necessary maintenance.
