At approximately 5:15 a.m., a driver who reportedly fell asleep at the wheel crashed into a utility pole and tree on North Airmont Road, snapping the pole in half. Faist EMS transported the driver to Good Samaritan Hospital. Ramapo Police and Orange & Rockland Utilities responded to the scene. As of 8:00 a.m., North Airmont Road remains closed between Montebello Road and Champion Parkway. The entrance from Par Road onto North Airmont Road is also closed. Motorists should use alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
