Airmont Residents Meet With Congressman Mike Lawler at Community Meet-and-Greet at the Home of Airmont Trustee Yehuda Zorger {PHOTOS & VIDEOS}

Dozens of Airmont residents gathered Monday evening for a community meet-and-greet with Congressman Mike Lawler, held at the home of Airmont Village Trustee Yehuda Zorger. Hosted by Airmont Village Trustees and community representatives, the event brought together local officials, representatives from shuls across Airmont, and residents for an open discussion on issues impacting the community.

Opening the event, Trustee Yehuda Zorger thanked those in attendance for their support and praised Lawler’s record of delivering for the village. Zorger noted that after decades in which Airmont received no federal infrastructure funding, the village has secured $1.4 million for critical infrastructure improvements since Lawler took office.

“For many, many years we had people representing the 17th District in Congress, and the total amount of federal funding brought to this village was zero,” Zorger said. “Since Mike has been in office, Airmont has received $1.4 million for infrastructure. That’s something that will help save lives, especially the lives of our children walking on these roads.”

Zorger also praised Lawler for being a steadfast supporter of the Jewish community, saying he has never hesitated to stand up for Jewish communities locally, nationally, and around the world.

He further highlighted Lawler’s constituent services, crediting the congressman and his Deputy Chief of Staff Rafi Silberberg for being available to assist residents at all hours. Zorger said their responsiveness has transformed how constituents receive help from their congressional office.

Lawler thanked Zorger for once again opening his home to the community.

“It’s wonderful to be here with all of you, and I want to thank Yehuda Zorger for hosting us and welcoming us back to your beautiful home,” Lawler said. “This is a great community, one that I’m proud to represent in Washington as I was in Albany. My job is to make sure your voice is heard in Washington and to work on the issues that matter most to our communities.”

Lawler also recognized his Deputy Chief of Staff Rafi Silberberg and his district office staff for their dedication, noting that over the past three-and-a-half years his office has closed nearly 9,500 constituent cases and helped residents recover more than $50 million in benefits from agencies including the IRS, Social Security, Medicare, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
