Agudath Israel of Rockland welcomes a transportation initiative led by Rockland BOCES, IMS, local school districts and community leaders, to improve transportation services for non-public school students throughout Rockland County.
This important initiative represents a step forward and meaningful progress for hundreds of non-public school students and their families across Rockland County. It reflects a growing commitment to finding practical solutions to longstanding transportation challenges facing the non-public school community.
“Agudath Israel of Rockland is grateful to and commends Senator Bill Weber, the Clarkstown Central School District, the other participating school districts, and all stakeholders who worked diligently to advance this effort,” said Rabbi Shragi Greenbaum, Regional Director for Agudath Israel of Rockland. “This development demonstrates the power of collaboration and a shared commitment to ensuring that students have access to safe and reliable transportation.”
Agudath Israel is particularly proud of the extensive advocacy, engagement, and investment of time and resources that its leadership and community representatives have devoted to this issue over many years. Working alongside parents, school leaders, public officials, and transportation professionals, Agudath Israel understood that meaningful progress would require persistence, relationship-building, and a commitment to finding practical solutions that address the needs of non-public school families.
At the same time, while celebrating this significant milestone, Agudath Israel recognizes that there is still important work ahead. Many families continue to face challenges, and Agudah remains committed to ensuring that all eligible students receive equitable and effective services.
“We are encouraged by this progress and appreciate the willingness of our partners to work together toward meaningful solutions,” Rabbi Greenbaum added. “At the same time, we recognize that additional issues remain. We are already actively engaged in advancing solutions and are optimistic that through continued collaboration and good-faith efforts, even greater improvements can be achieved.”
This milestone is worth celebrating, but it is also a reminder of what can be accomplished when communities, school districts, and public officials work together in partnership. Agudath Israel of Rockland remains dedicated to advocating for students and families and looks forward to continuing its work with all stakeholders to address remaining challenges and ensure that every child receives the services they deserve.

Doesn’t actually say what the solution is or when is it going to be implemented. So what is the applause?
CCSD is partnering with IMS Transportation to ensure all private school students have sufficient transportation to and from school for both elementary and middle school divisions. This is being done on a trial basis with YSV (effective now) that we hope can be built upon during the year and in the following year to include other schools as well. Parents are extremely grateful for this breakthrough and we thank everyone involved; especially the CCSD for understanding our perspective and the urgent and pressing need that exists…it is a true example of government and its citizenry coming together as one. Thank you CCSD! We appreciate it very much!!
