Abraham Klein has won the Conservative Party primary for New York State Assembly District 97, earning the party’s ballot line for the November general election.
Klein defeated Republican nominee Rob Bonomolo in Tuesday’s contest, securing the Conservative Party nomination and setting up a three-way race this fall.
Bonomolo had already secured the Republican nomination and remains on the ballot in November, where he will challenge incumbent Assemblyman Aron Wieder. Klein’s victory means voters will have a separate Conservative Party candidate to consider in the general election.
District 97, which includes portions of Ramapo and Orangetown, is expected to remain one of Rockland County’s most closely watched legislative contests.
