Over 10,000 children and families packed Viola Park on Sunday for Chaverim of Rockland’s highly popular Annual Bike Registration and Safety Carnival — an action-filled community event that combined safety education with thrilling attractions, hands-on engagement, and strong public safety collaboration.
The park was transformed into a vibrant carnival grounds, featuring exciting rides, games, live music, food, and an impressive bike stunt show that captivated the crowd throughout the day. Children participated in Chaverim’s flagship bike registration program, where volunteers tagged and logged thousands of bicycles with unique ID numbers — a key initiative in deterring theft and aiding recovery.
One of the standout moments was the dramatic arrival of Assemblyman Aron Wieder in a Rockland County Sheriff’s helicopter, drawing enthusiastic applause and highlighting the close partnership between community leaders and first responders.
The event featured widespread participation from emergency and law enforcement agencies, including Hatzolah of Rockland County, Ramapo Police Department, Spring Valley Police, Rockland County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and others. Notable officials in attendance included Sheriff Louis Falco, Senator Bill Weber, District Attorney Tom Walsh, Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht, and Ramapo Police Chief Dany Hyman.
Beyond the entertainment, the event served as a vital opportunity to reinforce bicycle safety and strengthen the bond between families and local responders.
