Major roadway improvements are officially underway on Union Road, causing full closures and traffic disruptions between Viola Road and Morris Road. As of 7:30 AM Wednesday morning, Union Road is completely shut down in this area, and motorists are strongly advised to use alternate routes.
The milling phase of the project is scheduled to continue through Thursday, stretching from Morris Road to Maple Avenue—weather permitting. Paving is expected to follow on Shabbos.
As previously reported by Monsey Scoop, the Spring Valley Board of Trustees approved a comprehensive repaving plan that includes Union Road from Viola Road to Maple Avenue, as well as the adjacent service street north of Myrtle Avenue. The project, years in the making, was spearheaded by Trustee Yisroel Eisenbach and received full backing from the Spring Valley Village Board.
While this necessary work may cause short-term inconvenience to drivers and residents, officials emphasize the long-term benefits, including safer and smoother travel through this heavily trafficked corridor.
Monsey Scoop thanks the Spring Valley Board—especially Trustee Eisenbach—for pushing this long-overdue project forward. Residents are reminded to remain patient, follow detour signage, and be respectful to workers as they carry out this critical infrastructure upgrade.

Stupid! Stupid! Why not on a weekend? How about yom tov? It’s a disaster
Shame, when the village finally does something good it has to be with a headache

This is just really smart… How many frum people do we have in office? They think closing a major road erev shabbos and erev Yom Tov is smarter than closing it on Yom Tov where 80% of vehicle traffic won’t be driving… I understand not doing it on a weekend because the cost would likely be double but come on you couldn’t wait until Monday it’s literally 4 days….
