💔TRAGEDY: Petira of 5-Year-Old Mattisyahu Glick, A”H, After Being Struck by a School Bus in New Square

Monsey Scoop regrets to inform you of a heartbreaking tragedy with the petira of Mattisyahu Glick, a young child who was critically injured earlier this morning after being struck by a school bus on on Ostilla Avenue in New Square.

As previously reported, the child sustained serious injuries and was transported by New Square Hatzoloh Paramedics to Westchester Medical Center, where extensive lifesaving efforts were made. Tragically, the child later succumbed to his injuries.

The niftar is the son of Yekusuel Pinchas Glick, who is the son-in-law of HaRav Aharon Goldmintzer, the Skvere Dayan of Yerushalayim. The mother gave birth to a newborn baby just this week, making the loss especially devastating for the family.

The Levaya will take place Thursday evening at 7:00PM at the Skvere Beis HaMedrash in New Square.

Baruch Dayan HaEmes.

  1. Three Dead Children. Zero Accountability. This Is a Scandal.

    Stop calling this a tragedy.

    A tragedy is unavoidable.
This was preventable — and repeated.

In the Town of Ramapo, three children have now been killed by school buses in roughly two years. Two in New Square. One in Spring Valley / Monsey. At least one more child was struck and survived in between.

    That is not random.
    That is not bad luck.
    That is systemic failure.

When the same type of vehicle kills children again and again in the same municipalities, the issue is no longer the driver in the moment — it is the system that allowed the moment to happen at all.

THE MATH IS SIMPLE — AND DAMNING

    • Three dead children
    • Multiple bus strikes
    • Same town
    • Same communities
    • Same silence

Any other industry with this record would be shut down immediately.
Any other public system with this body count would face federal oversight.

    But here?
    We get condolences.
    We get “investigations.”
And then we get another dead child.

SILENCE IS NOT NEUTRAL. IT IS COMPLICITY.

Where are the village mayors standing before cameras demanding answers?
Where are the boards of trustees calling emergency sessions?
Where is the Town of Ramapo leadership ordering an immediate halt to routes pending review?
Where is the County Legislature convening hearings?
Where are the State Senator and Assembly members demanding state intervention?

    Their silence is not caution.
    It is not professionalism.
    It is moral abdication.

“UNDER INVESTIGATION” IS NOT A STRATEGY

Investigations after children die are meaningless if they do not produce immediate, visible, structural change.

How many more children must be struck before routes are redesigned?
    Before crossing guards are mandated?
Before drivers are reassigned pending review?
Before private bus operators are audited or stripped of contracts?

    This is negligence with notice.

    HISTORY WILL NOT BE KIND

Years from now, no one will remember the press releases.
    They will remember the funerals.

    And they will ask:
Why wasn’t this stopped after the first child died?

  2. B”H

Buses can be lethel weapons. Where I am in another shtetl, they come wizzing by at high speeds in between pick-ups. The drivers are likely unaware of how much more careful they have to be driving such a heavy vehicle at high velocity. However, the weather outside is treacherous still, in terms of street cleaning and sidewalks – although in New Square I understand they did a laudable job clearing everything. Still, we have to believe this may have not been preventable unless we’re sure that it was, especially with the weather as it is. This is not just a matter that affects the family; the driver is likely to be shattered by this, as well. May HaShem have rachmanus on all Yidden!

  3. Oh dear Rabbi, your words just say one thing: YOU ARE IN SEVERE PAIN, you must be experiencing major trauma. And very possible that such sad stories trigger your pain even stronger. Feel so bad for you, but want to tell you, there is an organization called relief, they are very helpful with finding the right help for you!
I wonder if you know that the malach hamoves didn’t want to take his job as killing people so Hashem replied to him that nobody will blame him, everyone is going to have a reason why the person dyed….
But anyway, your words so strongly state that the tragedy could have been avoided. Are you serious? Did you have a private schmooze with Hashem, and he told you that he made a mistake? You know that this could be avoided!!! You must be a very righteous guy! Do you accept kvitlach???
Watch your words, it can always come back to bite you!
Have feelings for all the people that were so strongly hurt by this tragedy!!!!
    USE YOUR BRAIN!!!!
Happens to be that I know first hand that the driver and system were 100% innocent!
But the information is irrelevant anyway, the tragedy was destined to happen and
מי שאמר לעולמו די, יאמר לצרותינו די!

So again dear Rabbi, go seek help, you will feel better!!!

    • Rabbi Yonah Schwartz,
May I know if you actually used your brain as you prompted ChatGPT?

      Now Lazer,

I read your comment over and over.
I must tell you, your words are as pure as this innocent Neshumah.

Thank you so much for your post.
